Welcome to the Shamrock Lodge Country House Hotel and conference centre, located in the very centre of Ireland in the historic town of Athlone.
From the moment you enter the
elegant reception area you will find a warmth and graciousness which sets the style for the entire hotel. Throughout, the emphasis is on tasteful surroundings and traditional Irish
hospitality. The Hotel, which began life as the home of Michael Monks in 1814 was immaculately restored and refurbished in 1991 with every modern facility while still retaining the country
house atmosphere.
The new development at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel opened in late 2005. The hotel now offers 40 deluxe bedrooms and 12 family suites together with a new conference and
banqueting room which has been added to the existing facilities.

You will enjoy the unique dining experience in the quiet and peaceful ambience of the An Luain Restaurant. It is renowned in the midlands for its excellent cuisine, the An Luain Restaurant is complete with a conservatory, which is ideal for small private lunch and dinner parties.
Its team of Chefs has a passion for producing the finest of dishes with only the best of local produce. Both groups and individuals are welcome. With plenty of car parking available, free of charge, it is the ideal spot for Sunday lunch, or even a romantic dinner for two.
They cater for all occasions such as christenings, family gatherings, business lunches, group tours and dinner dances. The Shamrock Lodge Hotel has now opened a large function room on a Sunday for lunch and has a full Carvery with the finest of food to choose from.

The Shamrock Lodge Hotel is just a 5 minutes walk from Athlone town centre on the west side of the River Shannon, making it the ideal touring base for the town and the rest of the Midlands. Athlone is easily accessible by road (N6 National Primary Road connecting Dublin to Galway), and has an excellent bus and train service.
Directions from Galway approach
Take the 2nd exit off the Athlone
bypass and then take the 3rd exit off the roundabout at Ganly’s driving straight for direction Athlone Town Centre (N61). Take the left turn at the next junction onto the R446 again
direction Athlone Town Centre, driving past Lynch’s Garage on the left. Take a right turn at the next traffic light junction (Bright Ideas shop to the left of this junction) and drive
straight as far as the Battery Roundabout. Take 3rd exit off the roundabout, cross the Battery Bridge and take the immediate left turn after the bridge. Drive straight on to the main
entrance of the Shamrock Lodge Hotel located on the right.
Directions from the Dublin Approach
On arrival at the main Athlone
approach roundabout (Kilmartin’s N6 Centre/Creggan Court Hotel) take 2nd exit off the roundabout and drive straight on through each subsequent roundabout to the town centre. Keep driving
straight through over the Town Bridge and very left around by Athlone Castle. Follow the one-way system as far as the Battery roundabout (Walsh’s shop and pub on left). Drive straight
ahead over the Battery Bridge and take the immediate left turn after the bridge. Drive straight on to the main entrance of the Shamrock Lodge Hotel located on the right.
Directions from Roscommon/Sligo Approach
On arrival at the roundabout
at Ganly’s Roscommon road take the 2nd exit, direction Athlone Town Centre (N61). Take the left turn at the next junction onto the R446 again direction Athlone Town Centre, driving past

On approaching
Athlone from the N55 drive straight past Tyco Mallinckrodt on the left towards Athlone Town Centre. Continue straight over the by-pass flyover and take the 2nd exit off the flyover
roundabout (1st left exit is for the Regional Sports Centre). Continue straight on and take the 4th exit off the next small roundabout toward the Bus and Rail station. Follow the road to
the next roundabout, take the 1st exit towards the town centre (hospital is the 2nd exit). Drive straight ahead and take a right at the traffic light junction. Drive over the bridge of
Athlone and very left around by Athlone Castle. Follow the one-way system as far as the Battery roundabout (Walsh’s shop and pub on left). Drive straight ahead over the the Battery Bridge
