GAME ANGLING

Lough Corrib is a vast lake of 42,000 acres. It is mostly shallows and contains many islands. It holds an enormous stock of wild brown trout, which average about 1.5lbs weight. There is also a large run of Atlantic salmon into the system every year. There are many methods of fishing on this enormous Lough. Trolling, dapping and the most productive of all can be fly-fishing. The game fishing season opens February 15th and runs until September 30th. During this long season, many different types of fly hatches occur. This makes for some very challenging fishing for Countrywide Angling Holiday clients, because right throughout the year, you need to vary your approach to succeed in fooling the intelligent wild brown trout. In addition to game fishing it is possible to fly-fish all year for pike.  The Corrib B&B, Bar and Restaurant is the base for this Angling package.

The Corrib Bar B&B is situated at Headford, near the shores of Lough Corrib and within close proximity of Galway and Knock airports. Specialists in catering for anglers, the Corrib Bar B&B has 9 spacious supremely comfortable en suite bedrooms with satellite T.V. and tea/coffee making facilities.
